You don’t have to be a dancer to appreciate this piece of dance and animation mixed in with it as we watch and listen to Peggy Baker and to sketches of her come to life.In May of 2009, Baker, now a longtime Toronto resident, received the “Lifetime Achievement Award from Canada’s Governor General. Now in her late ’50s, this Canadian is considered one of the great contemporary dancers of her generation, and also excels in choreography. Her thoughts about dance and how it relates to life, and the unique drawings which come to life and abstract images superimposed here and there all make this a very interesting five minutes. It’s a combination of “real life” and “animation.”I saw this as part of the DVD titled “Animation Express” which is available in regular and Blu-Ray discs and is a compilation of animation short subjects by the Film Board Of Canada.
