Gerald Clarke interrupts a robbery when he stops at a liquor store while en route to a friend’s house to play cards. He’s quite terrified when the young hoodlum pokes the gun in his back but recovers and shoots the robber with the liquor store owner’s gun. He subsequently learns that that the robber’s gun wasn’t loaded and tries to make amends for what he has done by paying part of the boy’s funeral expenses. When Gerald is visited by the boy’s mother, tragedy results.
