A company goes into battle, with the commander ordered to be willing to sacrifice his men. As they go along, they gain in confidence, and the commander comes to understand that the power to order his men to certain death makes him more responsible. It’s a two-hour movie, and it seems that almost all of it consists of battles and men marching to the next battle. Occasionally they rest, at which point their principal interest seems to be to wash some of the mud off.Although there are occasional injuries, and even one death, the soldiers seem invincible against the faceless Chinese enemy.
