A Modern Yakuza: Humanity and Justice of the Outlaw

A young man wants to leave the yakuza to start a cleaner life with his girlfriend. The yakuza objects, and he’s on the run. Luckily, he has a righteous brother, Goro. Together with another friend who runs a sex shop, they conspire to steal something valuable from the boss to ensure the young man’s security. But things don’t go quite as planned.Pretty standard stuff really. However, the wonderfully serious and sincere Bunta Sugawara makes it watchable. There are a few gimmicks which try to make this standard plot a bit glitzy. There’s the disgruntled sex shop owner, and a go-go club which the characters wander in and out of at a slow pace. Plenty of smouldering looks, a couple of ornamental pretty girls, and everything’s set.Okay matinee fare.
